Fall style in the Biggest Little City

Here in the Biggest Little City we get to reap the benefits of four seasons with our wardrobe. Fall is finally here and the sandals and wedges of summer are long gone. In with boots, booties, fabulous shades of brown and camel and burnt oranges. Fall is right up there with Spring in the variety of colors we have access to when it comes to our personal style.

This Fall is going to be filled with suede, animal prints, great jewel tones like Cobalt Blue and Purple and a fall favorite, camel. Now this season, there are so many great pieces that can be paired with a variety of shoes and there is always a stylish pair of shoes to finish off a perfect outfit.

Pair this season's top trends including leather jackets, cargo pants, floral and animal prints and a full skirt with the perfect pair of shoes. Read more here: http://exm.nr/aSS3ou.

And we're done...

So wedding season is finally complete! No more bachelorette parties. No more rehearsals. No more bridesmaids dresses. Summer is over and three more of my friends have hopped off the single train and leapt into the next chapter of their lives.

And here I am in the next chapter of my life. The past six and a half months have flown by. I feel like I woke up one morning and my life was changed. I'm in Reno with a less glamourous but much more challenging job. I have my favorite person by my side each day and most of my very best friends just down the road.

I do get a little homesick now and then. Who am I kidding? I get homesick a lot. I miss my family! They are the most amazing people and I miss having them around all the time. Hopefully I'll be making a trip to Vegas soon to see them.

But work is crazy and I feel like life is swallowing me whole lately. So I'm thankful for spare moments where I can relax - catch up on my favorite TV, read some of my favorite poetry or just dance around the house, cleaning and listening to my favorite music.

So I'm off to catch up on the latest episode of My Fair Wedding (I guess I haven't had enough) and enjoy the peace and quiet of my near empty apartment.

Until next time...

The wonder of online shopping

I've never really considered myself an online shopper. I enjoy the thrill of going into the store, searching for my next great find and taking it home that day. I love the instant gratification. It wasn't until recently, that I realized the wonder of . Don't get me wrong, I still love the excitement of going to actual stores but when you can shop any day, anytime, anywhere - why not?

Now, I’m not about to pay full price plus shipping when I can drive down the street to Summit Mall or even out to Sparks to get the latest deals at Legends at Sparks Marina. But now, it’s so easy to get fashionable clothes at a discount and you never have to leave your computer! Here’s the scoop on some of my favorite online shopping sites...read more here: http://exm.nr/RenoShoesOnlineShopping.

A weekend in review...

There was a lot errand-running this weekend, and -- of course, a weekend shouldn't go by where I don't have to do some form of an event or some sort of task for a wedding.

This weekend, I was down in the exciting town of Gardnerville for my dear friend Michelle's wedding shower. It was a great little party put on by her oh-so-creative aunt and cousin. First, we had to provide recipes along with our RSVP and her aunt created a cookbook filled with loving recipes from her family and friends. Next, we show up and it's a classic tea party chock full of scones and Devonshire cream, tea and cute little sandwiches (no crust, of course). Check out her wedding site: http://bit.ly/b3Hsvp  ---- Pictures to be posted soon.

Speaking of soon-to-be-posted photos. I'll be posting the weekend prior's photos of wedding festivities hosted by my two beautiful newlywed friends, Lindsay and Faustin.

Aside from my bridesmaid duties, I was also able to spend some time with my favorite this weekend. It's been awhile since we've had some serious quality time together. I must say, we seem to be able to have fun no matter what we do. First was a stop at Farmer's Market in South Reno. We slept in so we almost missed it. But we were able to sneak away with some Smoked Mozzarella and Tomato Raviloi and Fire Roasted Tomato and Basil Gnocchi.

Afterward, we baked in the sun for a couple of hours and then went to see Inception. A fantastic movie but the best part was definitely coming home, cuddling on the couch and watching trashy reality television.

Now it's home to cook some of that fantastic Gnocchi in a fontina cream sauce (Recipe here: http://bit.ly/ahBk5z) and enjoy a nice bottle of Chianti. Mmm...

Summer favorites go glam: the bedazzled flip flop

Gladiator sandals have been all the rage this season but let's not forget about a summer classic, flip flops. Now, we all know that a classic must be reinvented to stay relevant, which is why fashion brings us, courtesy of all things shiny, the glam flip flop.

If you haven't heard of Havaianas, welcome to planet Earth. Havaianas are the original fashionable flip flop. Inspired by Japanese sandals, these stylish summer basics have the unmistakable feature of a textured rice pattern on the foot-bed and have been providing comfort and flair to men and women since 1962. Read more about Havaianas here: http://usa.havaianas.com/.

You can find Havaianas at almost any self-respecting shoe store including local favorites like Off Broadway inside Legends at Sparks Marina (www.offbroadwayshoes.com and www.experiencelegends.com), online at fashionable sites like Piperlime (www.piperlime.com) or discount sites like Zappos.com (www.zappos.com).

But if you’re looking for glam, the place to go is Savvy Boutique. Savvy is located off of Wedge Parkway in the Raley’s shopping center (http://bit.ly/beh5ip). If you haven’t been there, it’s a must-see. Lined with stylish clothes from some of the top name-brands, this one-off boutique is a perfect one-stop shop for a great outfit and a casual but classy pair of flip flops.

For the love of shoes

Finding a great pair of shoes is a great moment in a woman's life. It's a time when pure bliss meets confidence - when sassy meets stylish. At least, that's what it should be. And if you're paying too much for your shoes, it can sometimes be a moment of question - a moment where every woman must ask, are they worth it?

Well, of course they're worth it! They're worth feeling great, worth having that perfect pair of shoes for that outfit that's been sitting in your closet for months or even just to have that tingling feeling of a putting on a new pair of shoes for the first time. Now, the question I ask is, why pay full price when you don't have to?

Finding shoes at a great price can be a bit of a challenge. It's not easy going from store to store shopping the latest sale. And while many of us get a thrill out of bargain hunting, there are moments when we just don't have the time. The solution? Fabulous shoes at fabulous prices without ever having to leave your home.
